
Chef Monty received his training in Philadelphia back in the early 1980's.
He achieved his banquet experience through his first job at the Highlander Inn in Iowa City, Iowa where he learned to serve large groups (1,200 people) for sit-down dinners as well as buffet dinners.
He later opened Monty's Restaurant on Blairsferry Road in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was a very popular supper club. Many weddings, rehearsal dinners, Christmas parties and lots of engagements took place on the balcony over the decade he was open.
He went into consulting and helped establishments with their kitchen layout menus, food styling and staff training. During his years of consulting, he kept catering for his special clientele. However, over the years the catering kept growing.
Monty envisioned a place where friends and family could come together and enjoy great food and conversation. This Montana style cafe not only achieved his vision but also allowed him to continue his catering services. The new Monty's is the place to be!
